Set within a quiet rural landscape north of Brisbane, Amaroo II reflects calm, clarity, and connection to place. Designed by Shaun Lockyer Architects and built by Envisage Building, this finely crafted residence provides a peaceful retreat for its owners, Mark and Ann Webber.

At the centre of the home’s main living space, the Axis I1000 FS wood fireplace from Sculpt Fireplace Collection plays a grounding role. It brings warmth and balance to a home designed for stillness and renewal.

A Place Designed for Rest and Reflection

Positioned on the traditional lands of the Jinibara people, Amaroo II takes its name from the Aboriginal word meaning “beautiful place.” The site itself feels secluded and timeless, with an expansive layout that supports privacy and tranquillity.

The home’s cruciform plan creates functional zones tailored to the couple’s lifestyle. A southern wing provides arrival access and utility spaces, while the northern pavilion contains the living areas and main bedroom. A protected courtyard links the two, forming a quiet internal sanctuary that shields the home from the elements.

Simplicity, Structure and Warmth

Amaroo II combines refined materials with a strong architectural rhythm. The form reads as solid and protective at the base, with a lightweight charred timber roof floating above. This elevated structure improves solar and water performance while maintaining a clean silhouette that gently lifts toward the landscape.

Material choices reinforce the home’s connection to its surroundings. The use of spotted gum reflects the dominant trees in the area, while locally sourced stone grounds the building to its site. These textures enhance the experience of moving through the home, shifting from shaded courtyards to sunlit interiors.

The Fireplace at the Heart of the Home

Inside the main living area, the Axis I1000 FS wood fireplace brings quiet presence and warmth. Its minimalist design aligns perfectly with the home’s architectural language. Clean lines and strong proportions allow the fireplace to sit comfortably within the space, while delivering powerful heating performance.

More than just a heat source, the fireplace becomes a natural anchor for daily rituals — a place to gather, relax, and reconnect. It adds atmosphere to the open-plan interior while complementing the natural tones and refined finishes throughout.
