Treehouse Margaret River

Posted on March 24th, 2025 by Xaniah Borja

Tucked deep in the forested slopes of Margaret River, the Treehouse Margaret River is more than a home. It’s a retreat designed to reconnect its owners with nature. Inspired by a desire to balance urban life with rural calm, the house offers sanctuary, simplicity, and sustainability in one beautifully crafted dwelling.

The site presented both challenges and opportunities. Sloped land and dense bushland demanded sensitivity and restraint. Rather than clearing the site, the design worked around it. Mature Jarrah, Karri, and Marri trees, some more than 150 years old, remain untouched. As a result, the home feels anchored within the forest, not imposed upon it.

Externally, the materials respond directly to their surroundings. Corten steel and Spotted Gum cladding offer bushfire resistance while blending into the landscape. Inside, the home opens with warmth and intention. At the centre, the Axis H1400 fireplace from Sculpt Fireplace Collection becomes a defining element. It offers a visual focal point, a place to gather, and a source of comfort through winter.

Beyond its form, the home reflects strong environmental values. Off-grid systems support energy independence. A rainwater collection system reduces reliance on external supply. Over 2,000 native plants contribute to biodiversity and habitat restoration. A thriving vegetable patch provides fresh produce just steps from the kitchen.

The internal layout follows the terrain, stepping with the land and drawing views through wide openings. Every room feels connected—to nature, to light, and to purpose. Moreover, the design promotes seasonal living, passive comfort, and slow, intentional routines.

With its grounded palette and bushland outlooks, the Treehouse Margaret River invites stillness. The Axis H1400 fireplace completes the picture, anchoring the experience and symbolising the owners’ commitment to living well, lightly, and close to the land.

Amaroo II

Posted on March 24th, 2025 by Admin@Sculpt

Located on the traditional lands of the Jinibara people, the name “Amaroo” translates to “beautiful place” in the Aboriginal language—an apt description for this serene rural property north of Brisbane. Tucked away from view, the expansive site sets the stage for a truly special home.

Amaroo II is intentionally modest in size, yet rich in comfort and meaning. Designed specifically for owners Mark and Ann Webber, known for their global motorsport careers, the house serves as a calm retreat from their busy, well-travelled lives. Here, the architecture offers refuge, stillness, and peace during their time in Australia.

The home’s crucifix layout allows for thoughtful zoning that meets the couple’s needs. To the south, a wing dedicated to arrival includes car access and a mudroom. This connects to the rest of the home via a central link that forms a protected courtyard and shields the house from southerly weather. In contrast, the northern pavilion contains the main living spaces and bedroom, purposefully scaled for two.

Architecturally, Amaroo II embraces simplicity and clarity. A strong datum of solid construction is topped with a lightweight, charred timber cap. An aesthetic that balances warmth with structure. The elevated roof form to the north is more than a design gesture; it’s a practical solution for solar and water collection. To the west, a twisted skillion roof captures views of the landforms and reorients the occupants toward the long, ever-changing light of the valley beyond.

Additionally, material choices enhance this connection to place. The warm, rich tones of spotted gum respond directly to the dominant tree species in the valley. Meanwhile, locally referential stone anchors the home to the surrounding landforms.

Above all, Amaroo II is the product of a joyful, collaborative process with warm and generous clients. The result is a finely crafted home. One that sits gently within its environment and truly lives up to its name: a beautiful place.

Libby’s Retreat

Posted on March 24th, 2025 by Xaniah Borja

Libby’s Retreat is a peaceful family home in Western Australia’s Peel region, just a short drive from Perth. Positioned at the edge of the Darling Ranges, the single-level house overlooks the Peel Estuary and rolling hills beyond. Built for Libby, Geoff, their children, and grandchildren, the home blends connection, comfort, and rural charm.

Architect Suzie Hunt and her team at Suzanne Hunt Architect (SHA) designed the home to honour the land and Libby’s vision. The layout includes three distinct pods. Each one is positioned to capture northern light and take in panoramic views. Together, they create space for multigenerational living while maintaining privacy and flow.

At the centre of the plan, the Axis H1600XXL wood fireplace by Sculpt Fireplace Collection becomes the living area’s showpiece. The fireplace anchors the main pod, where the family gathers, relaxes, and shares meals. Its bold presence and natural warmth define the space, offering both function and beauty.

Materials were selected with care. Rammed limestone, granite, and bluestone rock enhance bushfire resilience. Inside, rammed earth and stone walls add depth and texture. These elements ground the home in its setting while creating a calming interior palette.

The main suite opens with retractable glass doors, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. A separate wing offers comfort and independence for younger family members. This thoughtful layout supports togetherness while respecting individual needs.

In every detail, Libby’s Retreat reflects purpose and love. The Axis H1600XXL wood fireplace stands at its heart—bringing warmth, elegance, and a sense of home to this enduring family sanctuary.

Positioned on an elevated site, the residence offers sweeping views across rolling hills, gum trees, and rugged cliffs. Gage Roads Brewery

Posted on March 24th, 2025 by Xaniah Borja

Gage Roads Brewery is a vibrant reimagining of a historic 1926 A-Shed, now transformed into a lively waterfront venue in the heart of Fremantle. Once a symbol of the working harbour, this heritage structure now buzzes with craft brews, flavourful food, and a warm sense of community. The design honours the building’s legacy while injecting it with the fresh energy of a modern gathering place.

Throughout the venue, guests can enjoy sweeping views of the ocean, enhanced by open-plan seating and an array of lively spaces. Each zone within the brewery is themed after a familiar part of a home, encouraging visitors to feel welcomed and relaxed. From the friendly “verge”, where neighbours might gather, to the family-friendly “backyard” complete with playground and picnic tables, every space invites connection.

At the heart of this experience sits the Axis i1000 freestanding double-sided wood fireplace, supplied by Sculpt Fireplace Collection. This sculptural fireplace anchors the venue with both warmth and visual presence. Its double-sided design allows the flame to be seen from multiple vantage points, creating atmosphere and cohesion throughout the space. It also serves a functional role, heating the large open area efficiently during cooler months.

Crafted with care and vision, Gage Roads Brewery is more than just a place to enjoy a drink. It’s a space where history and hospitality meet. The thoughtful restoration preserves the industrial charm of the original shed, while materials, furnishings, and finishes reflect coastal simplicity and contemporary style.

The Axis i1000 freestanding double-sided wood fireplace perfectly complements the design—blending aesthetics, practicality, and a sense of place. It helps turn this once utilitarian space into a vibrant community hub where locals and visitors alike come to share stories, enjoy craft beers, and create new memories on Fremantle’s iconic waterfront.

Cottonwood

Posted on March 24th, 2025 by Admin@Sculpt

Cottonwood is a celebrated residence that has undergone a thoughtful and striking transformation. Originally designed by Richard Kirk Architect, the home now reflects a renewed vision, driven by its current custodians, Shaun and Julie Lockyer. Their goal was to enhance the property’s timeless architectural integrity while embracing a more modern, subtropical lifestyle.

Through a meticulous renovation by Shaun Lockyer Architects (SLa), the home now presents a seamless blend of old and new. Central to this revival is the Axis i1000 freestanding double sided wood fireplace, supplied by Sculpt Fireplace Collection. Positioned atop a sleek black steel bench in the main living area, it serves as both a visual anchor and a practical feature. The fireplace enhances warmth and atmosphere, offering a modern design statement that complements the home’s original architectural language.

The exterior was also reimagined to better connect the structure with its lush surroundings. Stone cladding replaced older materials, and the removal of boundary fencing allowed the home to merge gracefully with the neighbouring crown land. These adjustments helped soften the property’s edges and extend the interior’s openness into the landscape.

Inside, the transformation continues through refined styling, curated lighting, and layered textures. Natural finishes, paired with meaningful art and decor, create a luxurious yet inviting atmosphere. Every room feels connected, while still offering its own distinct character.

Careful landscaping and architectural lighting further enhance the spatial experience. Water features and framed views contribute to a resort-like ambiance, reinforcing the connection between interior and exterior spaces.

In the end, Cottonwood stands as a tribute to design evolution—where legacy and innovation coexist. The Axis i1000 freestanding double sided wood fireplace symbolises this relationship perfectly, anchoring a home that respects its past while embracing the beauty of change.

Luskintyre

Posted on January 17th, 2025 by Admin@Sculpt

Welcome to Luskintyre, a custom-built farmhouse set in the heart of the countryside. Completed in 2023, this home embraces timeless rural style while celebrating modern farmhouse living. Designed as a forever home, it provides both function and elegance for a growing family.

At the centre of the living space sits the Axis H1600 Wood Fireplace, framed by a striking stone feature wall. Supplied by Sculpt Fireplace Collection, this fireplace creates a sense of warmth and comfort while anchoring the interior design. It serves as both a practical heat source and a focal point that adds character to the open-plan layout.

The homeowners sought a residence that could handle the energy of family life without compromising on beauty. With this vision in mind, the design team found creative solutions to blend durability and style. For example, herringbone timber floors add texture and depth to the entryway. Meanwhile, high ceilings in the living, kitchen, and dining areas amplify light and space.

A neutral palette of whites, blacks, and warm natural tones enhances the calm interior feel. Brushed brass fixtures and tactile surfaces complement the home’s soft elegance. Every detail works to create a sense of tranquillity that feels timeless, not trendy.

The layout encourages togetherness while still allowing space to retreat. From family dinners by the fireplace to quiet moments overlooking the fields, every room feels grounded in its rural setting.

Outside, the home sits peacefully among farmland and grazing cattle. The landscape adds to the charm, reinforcing a deep connection between the home and its environment.

In every way, Luskintyre reflects simplicity, strength, and rural sophistication. With the Axis H1600 Wood Fireplace at its heart, it’s a sanctuary built for memory-making and everyday beauty.
