Its distinctive Y-shaped plan delivers not just panoramic views but a future-focused response to fire risk, coastal weather, and multigenerational living.

 

Designing for Site and Safety

Y House was developed under challenging site conditions, including bushfire flame zone classification, steep terrain, landslip risk, and complex waste management requirements. In response, the architects crafted a flexible, durable plan that embraces both safety and liveability.

The Y-shaped footprint is more than a design statement. It separates the home into multiple wings, supporting different age groups within the family while maintaining strong communal links. Every wing captures ocean views, natural light, and cross ventilation, enhancing everyday comfort in a remote and demanding setting.
